Grand Rounds: Dr. Alberto Villoldo

Join the Spirituality Mind Body Institute for November Grand Rounds with special guest, the world-renown medical anthropologist Dr. Alberto Villoldo. This talk will focus on understanding how basic psychological processes, including psychotherapy and the notion of the psyche, vary across cultures. The talk will explore the concept of the sacred from Tibetan, Native American, and the early Greek perspectives, and examine psychotherapy as ‘sacred initiation.’

Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D., is a Cuban-born psychologist, medical anthropologist and author, writing primarily in the field of neo-shamanism. He has studied the healing practices of the Amazon and the Andean shamans. Dr. Villoldo directs The Four Winds Society, where he trains individuals in the U.S. and Europe in the practice of shamanic energy medicine. Dr. Villoldo has written numerous best-selling books, including Shaman, Healer, Sage; The Four Insights; Courageous Dreaming; and Power Up Your Brain.
