The SMBI Spiritual Wellness Center is the foremost Ivy League spiritually integrated wellness center for graduate training. Our innovative workshops are grounded in the science of spiritual life–promoting inner work for outer change. The SMBI Spiritual Wellness Center workshops provide space for the development of spirit, mind and body for Columbia University students and affiliates across disciplines. Teachers College graduate students facilitate workshops under the supervision of a spiritually oriented licensed clinical psychologist to make spiritually integrated work accessible, and to establish vibrant spiritual communities that nurture the individual to serve the whole. Weekly workshops are designed by graduate students in training and in the past have included yoga, meditation, dance, visual arts, and many other forms of expression and healing. We are a place of teaching and learning for the participant as well as the emerging practitioner.
The SMBI Spiritual Wellness Center is an approved IRB research site. Workshop participants have the opportunity to participate in a groundbreaking study examining spiritual wellness in a university setting.
